TOWARDS STRENGTHENING AND SUSTAINING DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION FOR NATIONAL ADVANCEMENT

As one of the youngest and growth-minded democracies in Europe, Czech Republic continues to distinguish itself as a dependable and development nation with inclusions and active participation in regional and global affairs. By the second half of 2022, it will assume its EU presidency, an important leadership role in the European Union.With an advanced economy, a high standard of living, functional democracy, people’s welfare prioritization and national safety realizations, the country remains relevant, revered and recognized. .
Czech Republic growing significance has fostered an enduring friendship and progressive partnerships with nations, leaders of governments and development stakeholders across the planet. And, since the establishment of the Czech Republic and Nigeria relations, both countries has enjoyed profitable partnership in democracy development, trade and economic growth, defence and security collaborations, IT & technology transfers, development programmes deployment, tourism and people to people connections amongst other.
The Embassy of Czech Republic in Nigeria, a respected diplomatic institution known for its duties and devotions, is vanguarding the country’s various aspirations and attainments . And, worth mentioning also among its efforts is its interests in exposing, educating, expanding, and engaging budding and proficient skills and talents in arts & cultural development in Nigeria. And with several projects of cheering testimonies shared in this areas, Nigeria is indeed blessed with a true friend ‘Czechia’.
In this regards, EUNIC Nigeria through series of in-depth workshops brought together wide range of participants (individuals and institutions) to explore more on the history, roles, growth and preservation of museums in Nigeria. A far-reaching virtual programme in which local and foreign experts in the field of museuology participated, including two Czech experts, Monika Mikulášková from the Brno Region Museum and Michal Medek, director of the Institute for Local Heritage Interpretation of the Czech Republic also took place last year. In pursuant therefore, this year, 2022, the Embassy has lined up more arts & cultural programmes, among which is “RESIM”, a project that will further provide education and exchange opportunities for Nigerian and European museums experts.
Importantly too, improved healthcare, effective health security and overall well-being of the Nigerian people are top-most in Czech Republic government programmes for Nigeria, and these are often witnessed in its various medical, environmental and sanitation interventions. A recent demonstration of this was the equipment supplies to a medical facility in Nigeria through the “Tied financial donation” of the Czech Republic and its humanitarian aid in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic within the Program for Africa.
A local hospital Intensive Care Unit and Maternity Ward in Ijebu-Ife in Ogun State got boost’ when some made in Czech Republic health equipment (by LINET and MZ Liberec companies) worth CZK 10 million,were provided. This life-saving implementation was the first of its kind in Africa. On November 29, 2021, a ceremonial handover was held with representatives of Ogun State government, Czech Republic Embassy, Czech trade companies and other related stakeholders in attendance.
Driving Czechia’s interests and initiatives in Nigeria is the Head of Mission; whose roles and reachouts daily ensure the mission activities (Embassy and Consulate-General) are on course. And, with a track record of proven personalities in this capacity, the Embassy again boasts of a new leadership, who has taken the driver seat for an onward motion of the friendship founded by both nations. Ambassador Mr. Zdeněk Krejčí, a multi linguist, graceful and experienced diplomat comes on board with impressive credentials and tested competence for the tasks at hand.
While speaking with Acclaim Nigeria International Magazine, ANIM, (a leading Diplomacy and Development promoting media outlet from Nigeria) during its recent visit to the Embassy complex, Ambassador Krejčí, a pleasant personality treated us to the Czechia hospitality and assures of maintaining and developing bilateral ties and strengthening development cooperation of both countries. ANIM wishes the new Envoy Godspeed and success in his Tour Of Duty in Nigeria and looks to more mutually benefiting engagements. Salute to Ms Hana Trousilova and other mission staff for their invaluable works in Nigeria.
