As ITB-Berlin Set To Hold A Spectacular 2023 Edition In Germany

The tourism and the travel industry is one of the biggest components and contributors of enduring national development given the opportunity, recognition and support to optimally thrive. Across the world it is a major money spinner machine and a veritable economic advancement tool. It provides desired platforms, provisions and promotions for employment creation, crime reduction, creativity and capacity building, infrastructure improvements, arts & cultural promotions, trade growth, increasing connections, expanding movement enhancement and people to people networks.

It is an obvious sector that puts smiles on people’s faces, money in their pockets, food on their tables, growth to their lands and respect in their various sovereignty. Simply put, the Tourism & Tours Industry is a win-win realisations for any serious nation because of the numerous advantages it portends.

Towards these, the African continent blessed by numerous natural resources and people must consciously step-up actions and attainments toward maximally tapping from the immense potentials abounding in its Tourism and Travel sector. The continent’s consciousness in developing and attracting investment, respectability and increased profitability from this gold mine is key. Governments and Heads of nations in the continent must thus be prepared and go the extra-mile in boosting their various Travel and Tour Industry.

As a leading nation in Africa, Nigeria as a matter of necessity should also do more to promote its Tourism & Travel segment if it must confront and greatly reduce the challenges it is faced with. The Covid-19 pandemic was a great setback to the sector globally and caused many losses and untold hardships the industry practitioners and promoters never wish to experience again. Rising from the pandemic aftermath, the country must put up renewed efforts to ensure that this huge market is blessed with booms.

The debilitating factors affecting Tourism & Travel growth in Nigeria such as insecurity concerns, international airlines trapped funds, neglect of conservations, wildlife and tourism sites & heritages, unhealthy and multiple taxations, corruption practices, public facilities abandonment, monetary challenging policies including FOREX problems, dependence on oil as main economic sustenance among many should be urgently and permanently addressed.

Governments at all spheres of national life must wake up to their responsibilities and provide enabling environment and needed supports to ensure the industry burgeons and blooms. People at home and all over the world wants a good holiday and qualitative leisure time. They want to go  to great and secured beaches, take a tour on roads, trains, cruise ships, attends carnivals and shows, festivals, art galleries and museums, visit memorable places and spend wonderful time in great hotels, restaurants, eateries and recreational centres in comfort and safety. They have planned their time, holiday and want to spend their hard-earned money in a most pleasurable way and they must be encouraged to do so.

Hence, key-players in the industry should continually team up to ensure that all components of the segment functions perfectly and harmoniously. This calls for collective responsibility from all active and concerned stakeholders with government supporting the campaign. The aviation sector, the nation’s gateway, must be set to work satisfactorily. The operators herein should be constantly assisted and motivated within the framework of global best practices. Aircraft inspections and security, grants and release of support funds, airports facilities upgrade and personnel training and re-training should be regular and ongoing.

Hoteliers and leisure hubs providers must be up and doing giving the best and affordable services that will inspire a re-visit by lodgers and tourists. Cuisines and foods sellers, souvenirs merchants, tour guides, carnival organisers, bureau de change dealers, marine and water services promoters, rail trips handlers, trade fairs planners, security personnel (at public and private levels), interpreters, conference, seminars and meetings managers, fun seekers and givers and many in these industry should work inter-dependently for beneficial outcome and sustainability.
