The dream of the Bangladeshi Father of Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was to build a ‘Shonar Bangla’ (Golden Bangladesh); and under the leadership of his able daughter, Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the county is in the process of realizing that dream and Bangladesh is well in its way to becoming a developed country by 2041.

From a war-torn, improvised, under-developed, aid-receiving country, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh  has risen to the fastest growing economy and an enviable hub in the Asian- Pacific region, Born in 1971 out of War of Independence, at the expense of Supreme Sacrifice made by millions  of women and men. 48 years continuing, graduating from the Least Developing Country status battling all limitations, vulnerabilities, constraints, Bangladesh keeps turning challenges to opportunities.

A people where over half the 162 million population is young. A people with demonstrated adaptability, resilience-innovation. A stable and well-governed economy. A burgeoning export-driven economy.

Bangladesh is indeed a Development Surprise with Impressive accomplishments including: A focal discipline, prudent, macro economic management;, a resilient export remittance flow, and a fast growing destination, emerging manufacturing and distribution hub, expanding consumption economy. With a low-cost and high return manufacturing in Asia, one of the Frontier economies, 28th and 23rd largest economy of world by 2030 & by 2041, the 12th economic power of the world by 2050, amongst many other laudable national attainments, Bangladesh is indeed the Best Investment Destination in Asia.

Having a strong economy with GDP (2019) USD 822 Billion, 23rd largest economy in the world., Budget (FY2019-20 BDT 5.23 TRILLION (USD 62 Billion), Share of Investment to GDP (FY 2018-19) 31.2%, GDP Per Capital (FY 2018-19) USD 1.909, Average GDP Growth 6%-7% (last 10 years), FY 2018-2019 GDP Growth 8.13% (All Time High), Inward Remittance (FY 2018-19) USD 16.42 Billion, Export climb to 40.53 Billion in FY 2018-19 FORM 16 billion in FY 2009-10.Poverty rate dropped to 21.8% in 2018 from  56.7% in 1991, while extreme poverty rate dropped to 11.3% in 2018 from 44.2% in 1991.Each year Bangladesh creates around 1.2 millions.

The Bangladeshi Government has thus offered  t the world: 10 reasons why should you to invest in its country; These include: (i) Open to inward investment,( ii) Opportunities in Domestic Markets (iii). Demographic Dividend,( iv) Bangladesh: South Asia’s Geo-Strategic Gateway, (v).Preferential Market Access, (vi)  Infrastructure Support, (vii).Low Cost of Doing Business, (viii) Initiatives to Foster Competitiveness, (ix). One Stop Service (OSS) for investors and (x ) Country Stability including: Business Friendly Government, Stable Political Environment and Zero Tolerance towards Terrorism and Drugs.

Towards promoting these, the Visit Bangladesh Programme (VBP), an initiative by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh further got a boost as the  December , 2019 VBP hosted 36 Delegates from 20 nations, including foreign media personnel, writers, columnist, intellectuals, former diplomats, bureaucrats, members of the civil service. The primary focus of the fully-funded event is unfolding the Birth Centennial Celebration of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman throughout next year already declared “Mujib Borso”. And, the secondary purpose include was to familiarize the delegation to gather first-hand information on glorious aspects of Bangladesh and the country’s commendable achievements in the socio-economic field which have turned Bangladesh a “Development Model” for developing countries.

The 10day programme involved strategic interaction with key officials of government, private sectors, and also with the vibrant media of Bangladesh among others. It also provided strategic visits to places including the National Museum, National Secretariat, National Parliament, National Parade Ground at Agargoan, Oldest Hindu Temple, Liberation War Musuem at Sher-E-Banlar Nagar, Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, Bangabandhu Mausoleum at Khulna, Bangladesh oldest Mosque (A UNESCO Heritage approved site) and visit to the Sundarbans (the World’s Longest/largest Mangrove) by cruise liner. The Delegates were also privileged to attend the 2019 Victory Day Parade.

During the farewell reception hosted at the State House in Dhaka, by the Chief Host The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegates were urged by the Bangladesh Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. A.K Abdul Momen to continually use their various publicity medium to positively project the investment and development Potential s of Bangladesh in their countries and to the world at large.

He enjoined them to partner with him in saying No to Injustice and Genocide citing the Royingha case, calling for global action for their relocation from refugee sites in Bangladesh to their original land and generally helping to build a peaceful, progressive and prosperous world.

It also appreciate the dynamic and assiduous Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, H.E Mr. Shameem Ahsan, and the Third Secretary & Head of Chancery for their nomination and visit-facilitation.
